Kusatsu Onsen: One of Japan's Three Famous Hot Springs
Kusatsu Onsen, located in Gunma Prefecture, is celebrated as one of Japan's Three Famous Hot Springs. It boasts the highest natural spring output in Japan, with over 32,300 liters per minute, which is equivalent to approximately 230,000 barrels of hot spring water per day! Kusatsu Onsen is continuing to heal the hearts and bodies of many people. At the heart of the hot spring town lies Yubatake, the symbol of Kusatsu Onsen. Yubatake gushes out 4,000 liters of hot spring water per minute, constantly enveloping the area in a cloud of steam.
Access: By train and bus via Karuizawa
Take the Hokuriku Shinkansen from Tokyo to Karuizawa (70 minutes) and then a bus (Seibu Bus or Kusakaru Kotsu) from Karuizawa to Kusatsu Onsen (80-100 minutes).
Onsen in the Hakone Area
The hot springs in the Hakone area have been cherished by the Japanese for centuries. With more than 10 different sources, these hot springs supply many bathhouses and ryokans with their soothing waters.
